Dear Friends,

The Lord is blessing us, and doing exciting things at Pass the Word. I would like to share with you some of the things that God has been doing, and share our vision for the next few years.

Thanks to the help of our volunteers we are now able to begin growing out of Southern Oregon. Many of our Bibles go out through the help of local businesses, who make Bibles available to their customers. Right now we have about 250 of these businesses helping us in the Southern Oregon area. It is a very simple and easy way to make free Bibles available. I recently talked to one lady who told me that just seeing the Bibles available gave her hope at a time when her life seemed hopeless. Thanks to Rick DeVos, who is our Director of Bible Ministry, and Ray Abbott, who is overseeing the ministry in the Grants Pass/Josephine County area, we are free to begin providing Bibles to other areas. With the help of Tim Cooper and Simpson College, we are beginning to expand our ministry into Redding, California. In the next couple of years, we hope to have the same type of program stretching from California to Washington.

We also give Bibles out through personal contact with people. We have door-to-door ministries, and street witnessing programs in local towns. Last summer, the Lord laid it on my heart to reach into Ashland, Oregon. Ashland is a spiritually dark area, heavily involved in the occult and witchcraft. But the Lord has protected us and gave us strength to shine God's light into the heart of the city. Now eyes are being opened, and ears are hearing and understanding the message of the Gospel. People are even beginning to come to us with questions about the Bible and salvation!

God gives us the promise that His word will not return empty. "So is my Word that goes out from my mouth: It will not return to me empty, but will accomplish what I desire and achieve the purpose for which I sent it," (Isaiah 55:11). Paul writes in the book of Hebrews that God's word is alive and powerful. In this ministry we rely on those promises to soften people's hearts and bring them to Christ. Very often, we do not see the results of the work of God in the lives of people. But sometimes we get a call, or we hear a testimony about how God worked in somebody's life simply through a Bible. I want to encourage you, that though it may not seem like much, God works powerfully through the obedience of his people, even if it is as simple as handing somebody a Bible. I want to thank you all for your help. Even the littlest service is a huge blessing to us. After all, God works in the little things. I thank God in my prayers for all of you, and I pray that God blesses you for your part in this ministry.

Sowing the Seed,
